Tony Hunter

Hi everyone,

my name is Tony Hunter, and I have been a nuisance alligator control agent for the state of Florida for the past 28 years.  As such, I have captured and removed literally thousands of nuisance alligators and have certainly had my share of, shall we say, "interesting" moments over the years.  I have been fortunate enough that none of these "interesting" moments have resulted in the serious injury or death to any of those in attendance.  I am very proud of the fact that no one hunting with me has ever suffered an injury during an alligator hunt, and I have every intention of maintaining this perfect safety record until the day I decide to give up hunting alligators.

Hunter (13 ft of rescued Nuisance Gator)I have guided many folks to their trophy alligators and still do so.  However, in recent years I've been capturing all my alligators alive to send to various exhibits and zoos around the country to allow them to live out their lives in peace while helping to educate the public about what unique and awesome creatures they truly are.  Extremely large alligators in the wild are generally 30+ years old and are becoming more and more rare with each passing year as our cities expand and we continue to encroach upon those areas that have traditionally been their natural habitat. It was this realization, that the wild population of extremely large alligators is dwindling each year, which spurred my participation in helping to establish unique exhibits such as "Alligator Alley" located in Summerdale, Alabama (visit their website by clicking on the link above, or their logo to the right). The alligator population at "Alligator Alley" consists exclusively of nuisance alligators I have captured alive and delivered to them.   I travel to Summerdale quite often to visit and handle the very gators whose lives I have spared.  It is the hunt, the chase, and the capture that truly pumps adrenaline into every part of your being. I have found this to be especially true when you are stalking an animal, like a big wild gator, that is easily, and quite enthusiastically, able of maiming or killing you; the excitement you feel during the stalk of such a creature is truly overwhelming to everyone involved, myself included.

As nuisance gator hunters, Michael, Tiger and I have the luxury of allowing our clients to choose the time of year and the method by which we hunt the alligators.  Because of this flexibility, we encourage our clients to feel free to ask about all the possibilities they may be considering so we can ensure we deliver an adventure that you will remember for a lifetime.

My Creed: "Life is not a a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a wellHunter, John, & Tony preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming --WOW -- What a Ride!"
